When Kathy and Greg Chorny sold their Lake Club home for $6.3 million, they wanted to downsize their living space, but not their community.

So they bought a home half the size, still in The Lake Club.

"We're still in The Lake Club because we love it here," Kathy Chorny said. "There is a great sense of community here."

Chorny said they were fortunate to enjoy such a wonderful home, which was located at 15420 Anchorage Place and closed on the sale this week, but they just didn't need the space.

The 8,095-square-foot home is situated on a 1.5-acre parcel with views of the lake and clubhouse.

"We were the first home in Phase II of The Lake Club," Chorny said. "We loved it because the size of our lot was substantial. We had 380 feet frontage, bigger than a football field. There were no visible houses that could be seen out of our backyard."

The previous owners loved the pool area because it felt like a resort pool.

The home was built in 2012 by London Bay Homes. It has four bedrooms, four full baths and three partial baths. The interior includes travertine stone and wood flooring, majestic archways, and designer lighting.

"We had a walk-in, (climate-controlled) wine cellar that holds 200 to 300 bottles of wine, a magnificent office and den, and a big entertainment room," Chorny said.

She said they loved that their pool was not under a screen, and the openness made it feel like a resort pool. However, if you were sitting in the lanai, and the bugs were coming out, a roll-down screen would come down at the touch of a button.

The indoor area is separated from the outdoor entertainment area by a wall of glass sliding doors, and the outdoor area has many covered areas that included an outdoor kitchen, a fireplace and a saltwater, infinity-edged pool.

"I've never been in a nicer outdoor setting," Chorny said.

Realtor Donna Soda, of the Lakewood Ranch office of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, handled the sale for the sellers. She called the home "a masterpiece designed for luxury living in one of South Florida’s most coveted addresses."

“We are thrilled to have played a role in facilitating this groundbreaking transaction, setting a new benchmark for the Lakewood Ranch real estate market," Soda said in a release.

Chorny said selling the home, which was listed on Feb. 24, 2023, was a bit of a grind, but they were fortunate to have Soda representing them.

"We came close a number of times," she said. "But it always was something. Donna was really beating the bushes for us and she has high ethical standards."

Chorny said one potential buyer was just a "hoax" trying to get into the house but was weeded out through a background check.
