Photo by Petra RiveraLongboat Island Chapel barked up a party on Oct. 21 with its second annual Blessing of the Animals. It was held in the chapel's garden from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Rev. Brock Patterson led the blessings, and each pet received a certificate and a charm with the words “I am blessed” and "Longboat Island Chapel" on the back.
Patterson brought his dog Pippa along in her angel Halloween costume. The garden was filled with fellowship, laughter and pet lovers. He blessed many dogs that live on Longboat and even a garden snake.
Peggy Lammers said she loves this event because it's a great way to meet new people.
“Not everyone who comes is a member of the chapel, and we love seeing other people from around the community. These are pets we are talking about. Who wouldn’t love that?”
