Kids of all ages are invited to experience a variety of working trucks at the annual Big Truck Day at CoolToday Park. The 27th annual event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29.
The event is a partnership of the Atlanta Braves and Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources.
More than 25 big trucks and heavy machines will be on display, from tractors and bulldozers to fire trucks and cranes. The interactive event will allow participants to get a close look at specialized locomotives and pull levers or honk horns from the driver’s seat. Included this year is the new Sarasota County Fire Department tiller truck, a specialized vehicle with a rear axle that is steered independently of the front axle. It requires two drivers and features a 100-foot ladder.
Activities include free children’s games and instructed crafts, pedal car rides and tours of CoolToday Park. Stadium concessionaires will be open to purchase food and beverages.
CoolToday Park is at 18800 W. Villages Parkway, Venice.
