Aubrey Robbins is a rising sophomore girls lacrosse player at The Out-of-Door Academy. Robbins also plays club lacrosse for Limitless. Robbins, a midfielder, represented Team Florida at the 2021 American Select Main Event tournament, held July 27-30 in Milford, Delaware. Robbins helped the (2024) Florida team reach the tournament finals. Robbins was previously invited to the Under Armour 150 Combine, which brought together the top-150 players from the 2024 graduating class.

When did you start playing lacrosse?

In first grade. My dad (Danny Robbins) played lacrosse in college (University of Maryland), so he got me into the sport early. In fourth and fifth grades, I took a break and played soccer. I just wanted to try something else. In sixth grade, I switched back to lacrosse because I missed it.

What is the appeal to you?

I love the team aspect. Getting assists and goals and communicating with everyone on the field is so fun. I also love that you can go anywhere on the field. I'm a midfielder so I get into the offense and the defense.

What is your best skill?

I think my speed. A lot of my coaches say I play fast on offense. I also am good at getting back and "riding," which means defending after your team loses the ball while on the attack.

What is your favorite memory?

Almost all of them are from this summer. At the Under Armour 150 Combine, the team I was assigned to won the championship game (6-5). My team also made the championship at the American Select event, and even though we lost, we beat Maryland to get there. Maryland was supposed to be the No. 1 team and we beat them 9-7.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Working on my left-handed skills. I'm good with my right hand, but my left hand is still a bit off. I'm putting in practice time to get better at using it.

What are your goals for the rest of the year?

I just want to keep playing the game that I love and getting better. My club team has a few tournaments in the fall. They're not as intense as the summer tournaments I just had, but they'll keep my stick warm for the school season in the spring.

What is your favorite food?

It's probably fruit, like strawberries or watermelon. I eat those on tournament days.

What is your favorite TV show?

I just finished watching "Outer Banks" on Netflix. I liked that a lot.

What is your favorite school subject?

I think it's math. I like dealing with numbers. Concepts can be confusing at first, but once you understand them, they get easy. It always makes sense.

What superpower would you want?

I would want teleportation. You could get from place to place so easily.

What is the best advice you have received?

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Why not go for it, whatever it is?

Finish this sentence: Aubrey Robbins is …

… Creative. I like thinking outside the box in hard situations, both in school and on the field.
