The sound of a beating heart pounded though the ballroom Jan. 12, at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota.
More than 700 guests at the annual Hospital Gala opened their own hearts in support of Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation. The money raised from the gala goes toward the hospital’s cardiac care services, and the $1,000,001 from the paddle raise will go to purchase equipment such as ICU ventilators, open chest carts and other cardiac equipment. Last year, SMH performed 1,015 heart surgeries.
The evening started with a VIP reception in Jack Dusty’s, followed by the cocktail hour outside the ballroom. In addition to dinner, guests learned more about the hospital’s services and enjoyed a performance by Deana Martin.Â
