Every year, a group of Sarasota’s top philanthropists and other local stars slip on their dancing shoes and hit the ballroom floor to raise money for AIDS research.

CANDance, the annual Community AIDS Network fundraiser, spun into its 18th year Oct. 21 at Michael’s On East. Emceed as always by “The Bobs,” Bob Trisolini and Bob Nosal, the event featured ballroom dance performances by five local celebrities — Ben Bobick, Stephen P. Covert, Becky Hanson, Donna Koffman and Clark West — with their professional partners.

Koffman took home two trophies, one for top fundraiser and one for best dance with partner Rastio Sida. Michael Klauber led the live auction, which raised $63,000 for CAN.
