Second Chance Last Opportunity honors outstanding community members

Second Chance Last Opportunity began its annual luncheon the best way the organization knows: through inspiring others.

“We all have a story and sometimes the most selfish thing you can do is not share it because it could inspire someone,” empowerment speaker Sha’von Reed said to guests at the Oct. 19 luncheon at Michael’s On East.

Through her experience working with individuals helped through SCLO, Reed learned that the thing most people need is to know that someone cares about them.

In that spirit, the organization used the luncheon to honor two outstanding community contributors, Lee-En Chung and Valerie Powell-Stafford, for the care they’ve shown for the people of Sarasota and Manatee counties for multiple decades.
