Dr. Seuss gets let loose at Fruitville Elementary

A cat in a hat, a thing one (or two), for Dr. Seuss's 113th birthday, there was so much to do.

With hats and crafts and stifled laughs the students at Fruitville Elementary had a bash.

It was March the second, and a party did beckon.

Dr. Seuss was their honored guest, in his image many students dressed.

Wacky hats were perched atop many a noggin. The Doc's 113th was not forgott'n.

Embracing Our Differences marked his birth with ecstatic festivity, the organization uses art and education to encourage diversity.

The group brought readers to Fruitville from here and from there, School Board member Caroline Zucker even joined the affair.

Students learned a lesson or two from the Doc's timeless fables: believe in yourself, even if you don't feel able.

Don't be afraid to look fear in the face, and when it comes to compromise give more than you take.

For more words of advice the students will just have to be serene, until it is time to celebrate Dr. Seuss's 114.
