Golf

Jay Eliason sank a hole-in-one on the 16th hole of Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club's Cypress Links course. Eliason used a 5-wood on the 155-yard hole. 

Three teams tied for first in University Park Country Club's Mens Golf Association best ball event, shooting 91: The team of Ray Jones, Bernard Needell, Jay D’Arcy and Michael Smith; the team of Tony Pugliese, Philip Axelrod, Jim Johnson and Randy Bennett; and the team of Len Baggerman, Gary Slavin, Bill O’Neill and Dave Sanders. 

Sandy Atkinson and Kin Wright (-11) won the Mens Golf Association best ball event at Palm Aire Country Club. 

Baseball

Former Braden River pitcher Tyler Dyson won the 2017 NCAA College World Series with the University of Florida on June 27, beating LSU in two games. Dyson pitched six innings in the decisive game, allowing one run on three hits and earning the win. It is the first CWS title in school history.
