The courtyard was packed April 4 outside the ballroom at Michael’s On East, where supporters of Historic Spanish Point gathered to celebrate the museum’s 35th anniversary.
Event-goers mingled, sipped drinks and perused the ornately-decorated basket raffle table, which served as a precursor to the nautical-themed decor awaiting them inside.
Guests then enjoyed a Michael’s On East meal of chilled vichyssoise, tuna niçoise and malva pudding before hearing a presentation from John McCarthy entitled “35 Years of Magic at Historic Spanish Point.”
The event ended with a live auction led by Jon Thaxton, which featured a three-night getaway to Manasota Beach Club, a Fourth of July vacation to Anna Maria and a gourmet picnic on Little Sarasota Bay. Thaxton also gave quests the opportunity to raise their hands and help raise money for a new visitor orientation video.
