Before each student received their diploma, Booker High School Principal Rachel Shelley embraced each one as they stepped onto the stage for the commencement ceremony Saturday at Robarts Arena.

Shelley then asked students to stand as she called out their plans for after graduation. Students stood to represent plans to enter the workforce, vocational schools, the armed forces and college. At the end all of the students were standing proudly.

“Class of 2016, Booker High School has done all it could to prepare you,” Shelley said. “You are college- or career-ready and now become productive members of our society.”
