New Lakewood Ranch urgent care facility hosts grand opening

Looking around at a packed house of guests on Thursday evening, Dr. J. Albert Avila couldn't have been happier.

"We've been open six weeks and we're doing incredibly well," Avila said of his Center for Urgent Care at 10940 East State Road 70, Suite 103, in Lakewood Ranch. "We're growing every week and the acceptance from the community has been phenomenal."

The Center for Urgent Care hosted its grand opening on Thursday and guests were given tours of the facility.

"We're one of only two urgent care facilities in Florida that offers a CT scan, digital X-ray and ultrasound," said Avila's office manager, Teri Jefferson. "The other is in Ocala."

"It's the closest thing you can get to an emergency room," said Avila, whose title is medical director.
