An Ona man was killed yesterday after colliding with a freight truck on State Road 70.

Quenten Tyler Cox, 19, traveled east on S.R. 70 near M&J Road in a 1997 Ford F250 truck. The freight driver, who was two vehicles in front of Cox, pulled to the side of the road. Cox swerved to avoid hitting the freight trailer but was unable to avoid contact, making impact to the left front area of his truck. His truck swerved across both lanes. Another vehicle, which was headed west, ran off into the grass to avoid hitting Cox, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release. The accident occurred at approximately 7:37 a.m.

State Road 70 closed both lanes for about five hours while highway patrol investigated the crash. There was no alcohol involved.
