Two hot dogs

Every Monday, Marta Shenker volunteers with the Humane Society of Sarasota County by taking adoptable dogs about town through the Excursion Buddy program.

The two Chihuahuas Aivery and Lainey, look like sisters but are not actually related. However, they have become a bonded pair and would be best placed together in the same home. They have been at the shelter since July 20. 

Shenker decided to take Aivery and Lainey out together for a girl’s day.

“We take the dogs all around town for coffee or to the beach,” This week we were having coffee at Starbucks with the dogs and the owner of Paint Nail Bar noticed them.”

Before you can say paw-lish, Aivery and Lainey were being treated to mani-pedis with hot pink polish. 

Cutting Loose for Cut-A-Thon

The stylists at Cutting Loose salon set up shop for a day in a suite at One Sarasota Tower, 2 N. Tamiami Trail. Stylists were on hand for hair cuts, donations and hair donations. 

The day ended with more than 20 haircuts and two hair donations to be made into wigs. More than $500 was raised by the Cutting Loose Team and this amount will be matched by Raymond James for a total donation of $1,000 to Wigs for Kids.
