Students showcased their best work in fine arts classes.

Clay pots and beaded jewelry, painting and performing: Lakewood Ranch High School's auditorium was filled with student work Tuesday night.
Students enrolled in the school's varied fine arts classes, including painting, chorus and theater, showcased their best work of the year during a special event for friends and family.
Some seniors, such as Lauren Cash, displayed pieces of their portfolio, a requirement in Advanced Placement fine arts classes. For the portfolio, Cash, a visual artist, had to have 24 pieces total, 12 showing the breadth of her abilities and 12 showing her concentration. Cash concentrated her artwork on events which occur in women's lives that change them.
"Some (subjects) are women who represent any woman," she said. "Others are specific."

Freshman Alicia Acevedo created what she called an Anti-Trump piece. The piece depicts a tattered flag with Donald Trump's slogan, "make America great again." Acevedo said she believes he's stripping down America, which is why the flag black and white.
