SANCA adds regatta to schedule

Officials with Nathan Benderson Park added a new milestone to the facility’s list of achievements.

On Sept. 7, officials signed off on paperwork making Nathan Benderson Park the official home of the 2018 World Rowing Masters regatta, slated for October 2018.

The signing happened while a local delegation, including Paul Blackketter and Nicole Rissler, chief executive officer and chief operating officer for the park’s managing entity, Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center & Associates, attended the 2015 World Rowing Championships in France.

Nathan Benderson Park already will host the 2017 World Rowing Championships in September 2017. Last month, SANCA announced it had hired Meredith Scerba as event director for the 2017 regatta. She starts in her new position next month.
