Deputies arrested 22-year-old Christian Gunter for allegedly shooting 59-year-old Roger Atlas following a physical altercation at the Sunoco at 5808 S. Tamiami Trail Monday evening. According to a probable cause affidavit, the two men pulled into the gas station following a verbal fight on the roadway.

The incident began after Gunter, who was riding a motorcycle, confronted Atlas about his driving, according to Atlas' statement. The two argued and Gunter allegedly followed Atlas to the gas station.

After Atlas confronted Gunter about following him, the two men continued arguing, according to witness reports. Atlas told deputies Gunter pointed a firearm at his chest, and after a struggle, shot him in the abdomen.

Atlas was admitted to SMH with non-life threatening injuries, and Gunter is being held without bail.
