WEEKEND BEST BETS: Kiwanis Club Pancake Breakfast and Town of Longboat Key Community Open House

Take a break from the heat and sun on March 21 and enjoy two events on Longboat Key.

The Longboat Key Kiwanis Club is holding a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. at St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church, 4280 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

Tickets are $7 and benefit local children’s charities. The breakfast will honor the late Edith Barr Dunn. Call 400-9991 for more information.

Just north of the pancake breakfast is the Town of Longboat Key Community Open House from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 5490 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

The event will feature water conservation tips, voter registration, wellness checks, document shredding and police and fire department tours.
