TUESDAY, JAN. 13

+ Buddy, the Buddy Holly Story — takes place at 8 p.m. at the Venice Theatre. $13 to $28

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 14

+ Knock Me a Kiss — takes place at 8 p.m. at West Coast Black Theatre Troupe. $16.50 for students. $29.50 for general admission.

Knock Me a Kiss is a fictional account of the 1928 marriage of W.E.B. DuBois' daughter to one of Harlem's most talented poets. The marriage marked the height of the Harlem Renaissance and was viewed as the perfect union of African-American talent and beauty, but the union of man and woman failed. This powerful play exposes the tragically flawed error in judgment by one of the greatest intellects of the 20th century. Runs through Feb. 8.

This night will feature live music by Mirah, a pop act from Brooklyn, NY best known for her sultry, airy vocals, short films and live music by Todd Chandler, formerly of Dark Dark Dark, and Gainesville act Holopaw, and indie-rock outfit whose frontman has also shared the stage with Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock as Ugly Casanova.

FRIDAY, JAN. 16

+ Drag Queen Bingo Bonanza  — takes place at 8 p.m. at The Player's Theatre. $10.

SATURDAY, JAN. 17

Say farewell to Sarasota's favorite indie- folk-pop-twin band as they gear up to move out to Los Angeles. Joining them on the bill will be psychedelic folk-rockers and kings of the vocal harmony, Physical Plant. The night will feature an extended set full of surprise guest appearances, new songs and fond farewells to make the Sarasota natives' final show one to remember.

SUNDAY, JAN. 18
