Chabad of Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch themed this year's Hanukkah celebration kick off on Lakewood Ranch Main Street with glowsticks.

Rabbi Mendy Bukiet explained at the "Glow in the Dark Spectacular," it was a symbol of members of Chabad's role in the world.

"A little light takes away a lot of darkness," he said. "With the darkness trying to spread, it's our job to bring light into the world."

The event celebrated the first two nights of Hanukkah with the lighting of a menorah ice sculpture along with activities and food for attendees. It was sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee and Lakewood Ranch Main Street.
