Families and friends walk the walk

More than 2,100 participants participated in a 5k for type 1 diabetes during JDRF One Walk.

To generate awareness and funds for type 1 diabetes research, individuals who have diabetes walked shoulder-to-shoulder with their families and friends, April 18, along Lakewood Ranch Main Street for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) One Walk event. Donations totaled more than $175,000. The Sarasota Southside Rotary was the No. 1 team for the most donations with $19,000 raised.
