The organization that operates The Food Bank of Manatee has acquired a new building for its adult day services program.

Meals on Wheels PLUS announced today it has closed on a 6,700-square-foot building in the Spring Lake Forest Business Park on State Road 70, in East County. The building, which the organization purchased out of foreclosure, will serve the Daybreak program, which provides daytime care for elderly individuals while giving respite to their caregivers. It had been vacant for about three years.

"The layout of the new facility is perfect and the location will allow us to expand our offerings to eastern Manatee County residents," Meals on Wheels PLUS CEO Maribeth Phillips said. "We are grateful to the Manatee County commissioners and community advocates who endorsed this expansion. We are thrilled with this opportunity."

The Manatee County Board of County Commissioners committed to provide $50,000 annually for the next 10 years in its new fiscal year budget.
