+ That’s a wrap
Sarasota Christian School students wrapped fourth-grade teacher Rachael Kinsch in toilet paper Friday, April 5, as part of the “Get Wrapped Up for Reading” contest. For each book students purchased during the spring book fair, held March 20 to March 26, students could cast a vote for which teacher would get wrapped. The contest got students excited about reading. Children purchased 185 books at the fair.

+ Science stars
Sarasota High School students Shelby Hinds and Jackie Mogensen attended the National American Junior Academy of Science Conference in Boston in February, as part of the Math and Science Technology Research Institute. This organization recognizes students for their research.

+ History remembered
Holocaust survivors Frank and Eva Schaal shared their story with Temple Emanu-El Religious School students Sunday, April 7, in honor of Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day. Eva Schaal told fourth- through seventh-graders about her journey with the Kindertransport, a rescue mission that brought 10,000 children from Nazi Germany to safety in England. Holocaust Remembrance Day was observed from sundown April 7 to sundown April 8.
