A Myakka City resident died March 10 in a one-vehicle accident on State Road 70, about one-and-one-half miles east of Post Road.

A Florida Highway Patrol report states Khabir Baqi Muhammad's 1997 Chevrolet Blazer was approaching a curve in the roadway and Muhammad failed to negotiate the curve and traveling into the south shoulder of the road.

Muhammad attempted to correct his path of travel, but overcorrected, causing the vehicle to rotate.

As the vehicle re-entered the roadway, it began to overturn and ejected Muhammad onto the north should of S.R. 70.
