+ Imagine School principal resigns
When the new school year starts, Imagine School at Lakewood Ranch will have a new principal.

Principal Steven Sajewski, who opened the school four years ago, worked his last day June 29. He left the school by mutual agreement to pursue “something different,” school officials said.

Imagine administrators already are working to hire a replacement, but none had been selected by press time Monday.

Imagine School is located at 10535 Portal Crossing, Lakewood Ranch.

+ Home burglarized in Lakewood Ranch
A home in the 14200 block of Cattle Egret Place in Lakewood Ranch was burglarized Friday, July 20.

Unknown persons threw a brick through the rear sliding-glass door of the home. Upon entry, the suspect(s) removed several watches, jewelry and a small lockbox-style safe. A silver-colored .22 caliber revolver also was taken, a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report states.

The homeowners were out of town at the time of the incident.

+ Study shows physician shortage in East County
A third-party study has revealed a shortage of primary-care doctors in East County and the surrounding area.

Health Park East, a medical campus just east of Interstate 75 on State Road 70, engaged Intellimed, a national company that provides statistical data and support to the health-care industry, to complete the study. Intellimed’s findings showed a shortfall of 51 primary doctors — or 55% — in an area that includes the 34202, 34211, 34243, 34203 and 34208 ZIP codes.

Intellimed’s data states the national average of primary-care doctors is one doctor for every 2,112 people and one internal medicine doctor for every 3,166 people.

“We commissioned this study to identify how we can best serve the heath-care needs of our community,” said Health Park East’s managing partner Jody Baden.

Health Park East is home to Healthcare America primary care and walk-in clinic, LabCorp and the park’s healthy lifestyle institute. It is located at 6050 53rd Ave. E., Bradenton.
