Longboat Key Turtle Watch will hold its first public nest opening of the summer tonight at 7:45 p.m. at the Hilton Longboat Key Beachfront Resort, 4711 Gulf of Mexico Drive.

According to veteran Turtle Watcher Freda Perrotta, the nest was laid before Tropical Storm Debby but appears to be in good condition, despite the many nests that were destroyed as the result of the storm.

The event will take place rain or shine but will be canceled if lightning occurs.
