The city of Sarasota announced Monday there is still $4,000 left to give to residents living within city limits who are interested in applying for rebates on energy efficient appliances that have the Energy Star label.
The “Get Energy Smart” program, launched in August 2010 using a federal grant, is an incentive for residents to make their homes more energy and cost efficient.
City of Sarasota Environmental Specialist Alison Albee said residents need to buy the appliance, submit a rebate form and provide proof you recycled your old appliance.

When the program was launched over a year ago, $85,000 in rebates was available to eligible city of Sarasota residents. So far, more than 300 Sarasota residents have participated in the program.
