Rev3 considers South County triathlon

The Revolution 3 “Rev 3” triathlon company is now working to bring a triathlon to Venice, Manasota Key, Englewood and North Port. The company had originally discussed holding a triathlon that would bring its estimated 1,000 participants through Longboat Key, Lido Key and downtown Sarasota but withdrew its application earlier this month after hearing concerns from town staff and Longboat Key, Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce President Tom Aposporos, who worried that the Rev3 event would conflict with the 2012 Longboat Key Triathlon, which the chamber organizes.

Rev3 is seeking to hold its race Oct. 28, 2012, the same day that the Longboat Key Triathlon will take place. The company will go before the Venice City Council Tuesday, Dec. 13.
