Free workshop 'Beyond Feeling Sad: Helping Kids in Crisis' offered to parents

Experts from the Sarasota County School District will offer a free workshop for parents and teachers to help them be able to identify and respond to depression and self-destructive behavior in young people.

The workshop, “Beyond Feeling Sad: Helping Kids in Crisis” will be offered tonight, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Sarasota High School auditorium and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Laurel Nokomis School cafeteria.

Experts at the workshop include: school psychologists, social workers, and a representative of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. There will be presentations about several topics revolving around anger, sadness and depression, and a question-and-answer panel discussion will follow afterwards.
