Famed activist Anat Hoffman, who works with the Reform movement’s Israel Religious Action Center, will share her experiences at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 23, at Temple Beth Israel, 567 Bay Isles Road.

Hoffman was arrested last year for carrying a Torah scroll at the Western Wall, a violation of an Israeli High Court ruling that prohibits women from doing so, according to haaretz.com.

“Anat Hoffman is the personification of Reform Jewish values in Israel today,” said Rabbi Jonathan Katz, of Temple Beth Israel, in a prepared statement. “In the face of Orthodox authorities ever eager to tighten their stranglehold on Israel’s religious affairs, she has courageously made a stand as leader of Women of the Wall, an organization seeking the same rights as men to worship at the Western Wall.”

The event is free and open to the public and includes a continental breakfast. For information, call Temple Beth Israel at 383-3428.
