County Officials have issued a precautionary boil water advisory due to a water main break affecting the north of Bahia Vista Street between Troyer Plaza and McIntosh Road.

Officials estimate water service will be interrupted for about two hours while repairs are made. The interruption affects about 200 customers of Sarasota County Utilities, including two churches that provide day care services.

Florida law requires drinking water providers to issue precautionary boil water advisories when there are pressure losses in water mains.

The advisory only applies to customers in the affected area. The county advises customers to boil all tap water for drinking, food preparation, washing utensils, making ice, brushing teeth or for first aid.
