Obituary: Betty Corn

Betty Corn, of Longboat Key, and formerly of Sioux City, Iowa, and Langhorne, Pa., died Aug. 23. She was 89.

Mrs. Corn and her twin brother, Jack Moscow, were born May 19, 1922, in Sioux City. In 1945 she joined the U.S. Navy as a nurse; it was then that she met Herman, a dentist. They were married Oct. 29, 1947, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Mrs. Corn and her husband enjoyed traveling abroad, often while Herman Corn lectured on periodontics.
In 1987 the Corns moved to Longboat Key and were active in Temple Beth Sholom, as well as in other community and charitable organizations, such as the Wellness Foundation.

Mrs. Corn was known for her generosity, compassion, her ready listening ear and her infectious optimism.

She enjoyed playing bridge, swimming, music, cooking and baking for her friends and family and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Corn was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, and son, Michael. She is survived by her brother, Jack Moscow, of Minneapolis; daughter, Wendy Katz, of Osprey; son, Jack, of Sarasota; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug. 26 at Shir Ami, in Newtown, Pa.

A celebration of life will take place at 4 p.m. Sept. 9, at Temple Beth Sholom, 1050 S. Tuttle Ave.
