Medical students at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine's Lakewood Ranch campus staged the school's  annual "Operation Prom," a mock drunken driving car crash, Monday at Bayshore High School.

Students in LECOM's Emergency Medicine Club acted as victims as Manatee County emergency operations crews tended to the scene. Responders from Emergency Medical Services, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, East Manatee Fire Rescue and Bayflite participated.

Bayshore students were able to observe emergency workers respond to every aspect of a car accident, including sobriety testing, extrication of a passenger, and the transportation of injured and killed passengers by  ambulance and Bayflite.
