Just a week after a state report showed Oxycodone was the No. 1 killer in overdose death in Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto for the first half of 2010, pharmacy students from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Lakewood Ranch shared with local high schools students about abuse and misuse of prescription drugs.

As part of the Generation Rx Initiative, LECOM students spoke in front of about 500 students in Lakewood Ranch High School’s freshman class Dec. 9. The presentation included student performances of skits centered around the abuses of over-the-counter and prescription drugs.
