ODA student wins USTA clay court doubles title

The 12-year-old partnered with Tsehay Driscoll in the tournament.

Ava Krug, 12, won the USTA Girls' 12 National Clay Court Championships doubles title in Boca Raton on July 22 with partner Tsehay Driscoll. 

The duo defeated the unseeded pair of Natalie Block and Lara Smejkal 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 to take home the trophy. 

Krug and Driscoll were the four-seed entering the tournament, and defeated fifth-seeded Dana Livson and Aubrey Nisbet in the semifinals. 

Krug, who will be a sixth grader at The Out-of-Door Academy in the fall, also finished fourth in the singles tournament, defeating Block 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals before losing to Clervie Ngounoue 7-5, 0-6, 6-1 in the semis. Driscoll won the singles tournament, defeating Ngounoue 7-6(4), 6-2. 

Krug is the sister of Jake and Connor Krug. All three Krugs are highly-ranked junior tennis players
