+ Key resident sells Seafood Shack properties
Longboat Key resident Hamlin Jones’ Sarabay Marine Inc. sold 6.06 acres of waterfront land in Cortez to Canadian developer Vandyk Group of Cos. for $4 million. The price equated to $659,826 per acre.

The property included the two-story, 20,000-square-foot Seafood Shack Restaurant and Marina with a banquet hall and boat slips and Annie’s Bait & Tackle.

John Vandyk, president and chief executive of the Vandyk Group of Cos., declined to comment on the purchase. Jones could not be reached for comment.

The U.S. office of the Vandyk Group of Cos. is currently focused on developing One88 Residences, a five-story, eight-unit condominium building on Golden Gate Point, and a future mixed-used project at 635 S. Orange Ave., Sarasota, in Burns Square.

+ Town to transition to single-stream recycling
The town will begin transitioning to single-stream recycling from its current dual-stream system Nov. 3, when Waste Management replaces the current red and blue bins with blue 65-gallon wheeled carts. The single-stream method will allow customers to place all recycling items in one cart, eliminating the need for sorting materials.

Waste Management will pick up recycling Monday, Nov. 3, as usual. A delivery truck will follow the recycling truck.

The new carts will only be left at residences with their recycle bins at the curb. Avoid placing recyclables in a plastic bag or lining the cart with a bag.

For information, call Waste Management at 753-7591.
