Grant Hill is a junior attacker on the Braden River High boys soccer team. Hill leads the Pirates with nine goals and 11 assists as of Jan. 6.

When did you start playing soccer?

I have played ever since I can remember. I don't even remember how [he started]. I tried football and baseball, too, but I did not like those as much.

What is the appeal to you?

I stick with it because of the relationships. I have known these boys for a while. I have grown up playing with most of them and it's something I love to do. It is a dynamic sport, too. There is always something happening. The flow is always going.

What is your best skill?

I don't think I have one specific best skill. I try to be well-rounded and improve all areas of my game to be the best I can be.

What is your favorite memory?

I have had a lot of good memories, but my favorite memory has not happened yet. It will be when we win the district tournament this year.

What has been your biggest challenge?

I used to not be good at soccer. (Laughs). Two years ago, I tried out for a club team and only made the B team. That made me want to get better and take the sport seriously. I started researching techniques and watching videos of pros and take that stuff and implement it into my game.

What is your favorite food?

Pizza. I love to get bacon and olives on it.

What is your favorite movie?

I love the "Star Wars" franchise. I liked "The Rise of Skywalker" (released in December) a lot, but I know a lot of people didn't.

What is your dream vacation?

I want to go to Australia. I like being outdoors, and there are a lot of cool spots there.

What are your hobbies?

I don't have much time outside of school because I take six AP classes, but I like to go fishing and go to the beach.

What is the best advice you have received?

Believe in yourself. If you don't, you will never get done what you want to get done.

Finish this sentence: "Grant Hill is … "

… Goofy. I take every situation lightly and try to make the most out of everything.
