Alta Vista Elementary School Principal Dr. Barbara Shirley is Florida’s principal of the year.
Shirley took home the 2013-2014 Principal Achievement Award at the annual Commissioner’s Summit for Principals Monday, Feb. 3.
Shirley was one of three finalists nominated by Governor Rick Scott for the award in December 2013.
