Convocation of governments set for Friday

Governing bodies from throughout Sarasota County, including the Sarasota County Commission, the Sarasota City Commission and the Sarasota County School Board, will meet Friday at an annual joint meeting known as the Convocation of Governments.

The countywide joint session is an opportunity for a variety of governing boards to discuss topics that are of mutual importance —center stage on Friday will be school facility planning.

According to the county commission agenda, the meeting will focus on various education programs and facilities projects in Sarasota County.

The meeting will also include an opportunity for area citizens to address the joint assembly of lawmakers.

The Sarasota County County Convocation of Governments will be held at 9 a.m., Jan. 17, at the Sarasota County Technical Institute, 4748 South Beneva Road., Sarasota.
