Owners at Siesta Sunset Royale and Crescent Royale worry late-night partying near the condominiums will only get worse when the county adds new picnic shelters and a pavilion at the west end of Siesta Key Public Beach. The additions are part of a larger project that will open to the public Feb. 21.

Paul Parr, who owns two Siesta Sunset Royale units, and other owners plan to request that the county curtail or eliminate parking on Ocean Boulevard at a Dec. 14 Traffic Advisory Council meeting in hopes that the new picnic shelters will be less likely to fill up with nighttime partiers.

Owners at both condominiums say they’ve had issues with late-night beachgoers in the past.

“People were using our laundry rooms,” Parr said. “They were sleeping in them and going to the bathroom in these areas.”

Restrooms at the public beach close at 10 p.m, although the beach itself is open 24 hours.

Owners also want the county to consider restricting beach hours and loud noise and installing LED lighting at the pavilion.

Sarasota County Commissioner Paul Caragiulo said he would need to hear relevant presentations before commenting on what measures or proposals he would support.

County spokesman Jason Bartolone said the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office handles noise and disturbances, which are already controlled by county ordinances. He said the county is not considering changes to hours of operation on any part of Siesta Key Public Beach.
