This year, when you think of ideas for Father’s Day, don’t exhaust yourself trying to pick from the seemingly endless selection of local burgers and barbecue. And, honestly, he probably has all of the shaving creams and ties he needs.

So, this year, skip the standard "dad gifts," and give him something he'll really enjoy. From the sophisticated fathers to the downhome dads and urban-chic padres, we have something for everyone.

Although his idea of the perfect Father's Fay might be as simple as posting up in his comfortable chair, watching the game, we can always make these moments better. Throw one of these wild cards at him and watch the innings turn into new beginnings. Serve up the "Not-So-Old-Fashioned" or "The Texan," and the men in your life will definitely thank you.

The Not-So-Old Fashioned:

2 oz. apple cinnamon infused bourbon

1 Luxardo marasche cherry

1 small chunk of orange pulp without pith or peel

1 splash of soda water

*No sugars or bitters added

How to make infused bourbon:

You'll need one bottle of preferred bourbon, four red delicious apples, cored with the skin on and cut into chunks, and a large container with a tight-fitting lid.

Pour bourbon into container and add red delicious apples. Place in a dark room at room temperature for five days. Shake two to four times daily.

On fifth day, break 2 cinnamon sticks in half, place them into the container, seal it and return it to its place in the dark for an additional 24 to 48 hours, testing for desired flavor. Letting the mixture sit longer than 24 hours will result in a more intense cinnamon taste.

Directions:

Muddle and fill a rocks glass with the cherry and orange. Add ice. Pour 2 oz. cinnamon apple bourbon and add soda. Stir, don’t shake. Serve.

The Texan:

1 ¼  oz. Crown Royal

3 large basil leaves

1 ½  oz. freshly squeezed grapefruit juice (the fresher the better)

1 splash simple syrup

Directions:

In a pint glass, add all contents and one scoop of ice. Shake well and pour all contents into rocks glass. Garnish with freshly sliced grapefruit. Serve in place of a new tie.

To the men in our lives who have taught us how to appreciate an extensive tool box, a charred backyard burger and a perfect no-hitter: cheers! Here's a taste of our appreciation for a man with an appreciation for good taste.
