The town of Longboat Key, in conjunction with the Longboat Key, Lido Key, St. Armands Key Chamber of Commerce, installs 2,977 American flags (one for each victim of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks) along Gulf of Mexico Drive each year as a Sept. 11 tribute.
