Film Review: 'In the loop'

Political satires are a tough sell on the big screen. Films such as 'Wag the Dog' and 'Primary Colors' never came close to the genius that fueled Stanley Kubrick's 'Dr. Strangelove' in 1964. But writer/director Armando Iannucci's first feature film, 'In the Loop,' is on the right track because it watches Washington spin and sell the insanities of war.

Siesta Key home sells for $1.8 million

Brent Cooper, trustee, of Rockville, Md., sold the home at 99 Beach Road to Christy Ramsey, of Bristol, Ind., for $1.8 million. Built in 1940, it has three bedrooms, three baths and 1,742 square feet of living area. It previously sold for $1.65 million in 2009.

Athlete of the Week: Kristin Zarrella

Lakewood Ranch High senior Kristin Zarrella crossed the finish line in 19:16.64 to finish 19th and pace the Lady Mustangs to a fifth-place finish at the Class 3A Cross-Country Finals Nov. 17, in Tallahassee. Zarrella is preparing for the upcoming track season before moving on to the University of Southern Mississippi, where she will continue her running career.
