Gov. Charlie Crist signed the Mark Wandall Traffic Safety Act at the Manatee Chamber of Commerce's Lakewood Ranch branch. The bill is named after an East County man who was killed in 2003 by a red-light runner.

Cops Corner

Nov. 2 Breath of fresh air 4:13 p.m. - 2200 block of Ringling Boulevard. Disorderly Intoxication. An officer came across a drunk man lying on the ground. The man spoke slowly and was unable to stand. But it was not beer, wine or liquor that the man had consumed. The officer discovered the man was intoxicated from Listerine, which was determined from his fresh breath and the half-empty mouthwash bottle in his backpack.
