Florida State Representative Ray Pilon named 'Treasury Dude' this weekend's honorary Secretary of Treasury at a press conference this morning in Selby Five Points Park. Pilon presented the sculpture, made by Tube Dude creator Scott Gerber, with a symbolic oil can in order to 'grease the wheels of progress' for the Sarasota Arts Festival this weekend. The Arts Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 and Sunday, Feb. 20, on Main Street.

The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce held it's second annual Bulls, Blues and BBQ Wednesday, March 20, at the University of South Florida Sarasota - Manatee campus to allow businesses to network in a two county market. More than 300 people listened to Doug Deming and the Jewel Tones jam out and enjoyed food from Chic-Fil-A, Square One, Hickory Hollow Barbeque, Anna Maria Oyster Bar, and Smack Daddy BBQ.

More than 50 boys, ranging in age from fifth through ninth grade, hit the court for Cardinal Mooney High's annual boys basketball camp June 18. The camp began June 17 and runs through June 20. Over the course of the four-day camp, participants learned the basic fundamentals that are essential to the game of basketball. Players focused on shooting, ball handling, passing, footwork, concepts of teamwork and defense while improving their overall basketball IQ.
