On June 12, Jay Sparr passed the gavel to new club president Susan McGuire.
It’s a new era for the Rotary Club of Longboat Key.
On June 12, outgoing President Jay Sparr passed the gavel to incoming President Susan McGuire.
The club gathered at Cedars East Tennis Resort for dinner and the gavel passing, along with a light roasting of Sparr complete with cutouts of his face for everyone to hold.
New President Susan McGuire said one of her main goals during her presidency is to give a global grant to Smile Train, a nonprofit organization that helps children with cleft lips.
McGuire said she hopes the club can give a $30,000 matched grant, where the club would raise $15,000 and Rotary International will match that, to the Philippines.
