In its third year, Blue Ties & Butterflies continues to impress, and, with 340 guests and $489,000 raised at the event, it remains Child Protection Center’s biggest fundraising event of the year. The event began in the courtyard at Michael’s On East, where guests enjoyed cocktails while listening to the Southside Elementary School Jazz Band. Guests then watched a program that consisted of testimonies, the presentation of “The Dancing Tree,”a live auction and closed with the Booker Choral Ensemble singing “High Hopes.”
CPC Executive Director Doug Staley on his favorite moments from the evening:
“There were two — when Andrea McHugh from the State Attorney’s office spoke about the collaboration of our agencies and what a child experiences as they come to our center as well as the animation and how it beautifully depicted how CPC works with a child who has been abused, to go from having no hope to finding hope.”
What is “The Dancing Tree?”
“The Dancing Tree” is a story written by a teenage girl who was sexually abused by a family member. Through her narrative, it helps us remember how critical everyone’s role is in preventing child abuse, not matter who you are in a child’s life.
