The town has a little-known ordinance that requires residents who reside on the island for more than 90 days to register with the town each year by Oct. 1 each dog or cat that is 6 months old or older.

I Am Woman captures strength of women through portraits

Janet Walter's family cherishes a portrait, painted in the '30s, of her grandmother wearing a canary-yellow dress. They refer to the painting as 'Dearie.' It now hangs in a museum in Tulsa, Okla.
