Transforming Futures Through Education

For nearly three decades, Take Stock in Children of Manatee County has been helping local students transform their futures through education, mentorship, and opportunity. What began as a commitment to helping underserved youth succeed in school has grown into a community-wide movement that has impacted hundreds of students and families across Manatee County. 

At its core, Take Stock in Children believes that every child deserves the opportunity to pursue their dreams, regardless of their family's financial circumstances. Through a unique combination of college scholarships, caring mentors, and college and career readiness support, the organization helps students overcome barriers that often stand in the way of educational success. 

Today, the need is greater than ever. Many students in Manatee County face challenges that extend beyond the classroom, including financial hardship, limited access to resources, and uncertainty about their future educational pathways. Take Stock in Children addresses these challenges by providing long-term support beginning in middle school and continuing through high school graduation. 

One of the program's most powerful components is mentorship. Students are paired with volunteer mentors who meet with them regularly, offering encouragement, guidance, and accountability. These relationships often become life-changing connections that help students build confidence, set goals, and navigate challenges both in school and in life. 

The results speak for themselves. Students participating in Take Stock in Children consistently graduate from high school at rates significantly higher than their peers. Many go on to pursue college degrees, technical certifications, and careers that provide economic stability for themselves and their families. 

But the impact extends far beyond individual students. Every scholarship awarded, every mentoring session conducted, and every student who graduates contributes to a stronger workforce and a more prosperous community.
