David Harold Osborn, former resident of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away February 15 at Aviva Senior Living in Sarasota, Florida, at the age of 83.

The son of the late Harold and Vera Houck Osborn of Defiance, Ohio, Dave attended Libbey High School in Toledo, Ohio, where he lettered in football and was a member of the National Honor Society. In 1964 he graduated with a B.A. in English from Dartmouth College, where he was a proud member of the Alpha Theta fraternity. After graduation, he served at Fort Hood, Texas as a U.S. Army intelligence officer in the 502nd Military Intelligence Battalion.

In 1965 he married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Jacob, and after Dave's army service, they moved to Perrysburg, Ohio. Dave took a position at Owens-Illinois, where he was to work for twenty years as a personnel manager and contract mediator. He was an active member of Park Congregational Church in Toledo throughout his life, playing on the softball and basketball teams and singing in the choir. He coached youth soccer and baseball, hosted a great party, and was a veteran performer in Perrysburg's Suburban Singers theater company.

Later in life he and Margie worked for Colonial Life Insurance, and bought a retirement home in Sarasota, Florida. A lifelong history buff, Dave worked as a docent at the Ca' d'Zan historic house in Sarasota for several years. He and Margie made the most of their retirement, with travels to Africa, Italy, Vietnam, and France.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Osborn, daughter Amy, granddaughter Hazel, son Joel, and brother Phillip. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Osborn. He brought good cheer wherever he went and will be deeply missed by family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at Park Church, 1456 Harvard Boulevard, Toledo, Ohio, on April 18 at 11:00 a.m.
